Carrying on the legacy of the teachings of Joseph H. Pilates is our passion, because his practice of "Contrology" has been proven to be extremely effective. All of our instructors have a Comprehensive Pilates Certification, meaning that they have completed the hours of training to teach all aspects of the Pilates method
It comes as no surprise that dancers, athletes, and avid Pilates practitioner, has a beautiful core. But what about the rest of us without access to Hollywood genes, Hollywood personal trainers or a Hollywood bank account? Does regularly practicing Pilates at home, in group classes or in weekly private sessions deliver the same results? The answer is YES! Pilates is not just one of Hollywood’s fitness secrets or a yoga -like form of exercise. Almost a century ago, the founder of Pilates (Joseph Pilates) developed a series of exercises aimed to benefit any body against the perils of modern living…longer work weeks, more sitting at a desk, and less time for daily physical activity. Today, over 8 million people worldwide regularly do Pilates, including men, golfers, Hollywood’s elite, students, mothers-to-be, and aging bodies seeking to prevent or recuperate from injuries.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR SESSION...
Core strength is the foundation of Pilates exercise. The core muscles are the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back. When the core muscles are strong and doing their job, as they are trained to do in Pilates, they work in tandem with the more superficial muscles of the trunk to support the spine and movement.
As you develop your core strength you develop stability throughout your entire torso.
This is one of the ways Pilates helps people overcome back pain. As the trunk is properly stabilized, pressure on the back is relieved and the body is able to move freely and efficiently.
The Six Pilates Principles:
Centering, Control, Flow, Breath, Precision, and Concentration:
These six Pilates principles are essential ingredients in a high quality Pilates workout. The Pilates method has always emphasized quality over quantity, and you will find that, unlike many systems of exercise, Pilates exercises do not include a lot of repetitions for each move. Instead, doing each exercise fully, with precision, yields significant results in a shorter time than one would ever imagine.
In each PRIVATE Pilates session, you will be one on one with your instructor. Initially your instructor will evaluate your ability, your strengths, your weaknesses, and make a game plan for your future Pilates sessions. Throughout your future sessions you will progress, as your body becomes stronger, to more difficult and challenging exercises, but only when you are physically able to progress. The private time you have with your instructor enables you to get the most coaching for optimal results.
